Education

Go back to School!

If you're older and want to upgrade your education, then you're known as a special student. There's a big bonus for students over 65 years for age. You will pay only one-half the Quebec tuition fee. (Some 13 students are currently taking advantage of this benefit.) Apply by July 1 for September admission and by November 1 for January admission.

Learn French!

You may not think that an English-language university is the best place to learn French. But think again. McGill's intensive and part-time programs are very strong. There is an intensive program, French for Professionals and a popular six-level course leading to a Certificate of Proficiency.

This prepares people for life in Montreal . . . or Casablanca.

Keep on Learning!

The McGill Institute for Learning in Retirement is a unique program where seniors can pick and choose from courses including creative writing, literature, poetry, politics, and philosophy. Moderators organize course content, but the students carry responsibility for class interaction, both written and verbal.

The cost is $55 for two 10-week courses. Each course is offered weekly for two hours. As a fringe benefit, students have McGill library privileges. There are no prerequisites, and no grades, no exams - only the pleasure of participation.

The Institute is not all business; many social activities are offered. The participants will tell you that the McGill Institute for Learning in Retirement is the best bargain in town.
